SGAE Foundation dedicates a series of films and concerts to Cervantes

The SGAE Foundation has organized the cycle of Don Quixote yesterday and always dedicated to remember the work of Cervantes, now that the 4th Centenary of the publication of the second part of Don Quixote is fulfilled. Specifically, the Sala Berlanga (C / Andrés Mellado, 53) will host a film show (admission: 3 euros) and concerts (admission: 5 euros) from 7 to 14 May.

In the audiovisual section, the cycle includes Don Quixote (1933), by GW Pabst, the first major sound adaptation of the novel; Don Quixote de la Mancha (1947), by Rafael Gil,

the most famous film of our cinema around the figure of the famous personage; Don Quixote by Orson Welles (1992), by Jesús Franco, a feature film begun by Orson Welles and concluded by Jesús Franco thirty years later; The knight Don Quijote (2002), by Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, the most successful film of the second part of the work; Lost in La Mancha (2002), by Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe, documentary that narrates the impossible project of Terry Gilliam shot in Spain on the novel; And Donkey Xote (2007) by José Pozo, Bank chor movie watch online free.

As far as music is concerned, on 7 and 9 May, at 7:30 p.m., the Ensemble Romance, a group formed by experts in the interpretation of Spanish music from the 16th and 17th centuries, will offer the concert Don Quijote:

 

a great troubadour, directed by Fernando Perez Ruano and who will move us to the time of Miguel de Cervantes through his illustrious character Don Quixote. The musical repertoire, made up of a good part of the romances, songs and carols contained in the universal Cervantine novel, will review works by Luys de Narváez, Luis de Milan, Gaspar Sanz, Diego Pisador, Juan del Encina, Luis de Milan and Diego Ortiz, among others.

About the concert
The abundant musical repertoire that Cervantes shows us in his literary work is the soul of this commented concert to which musical numbers have been incorporated that arose from the inspiration of its creators in the Cervantes texts and especially in his universal novel Don Quijote of La Mancha.

The musical journey through time and through it will make us move to the valleys and mountains of Cardeño, the roads and sales of muleteers and merchants, to the villages and mountains of their adventures and to the Castilian-La Mancha lands universalized by their History, its monuments, its people and customs and by the pen of Don Miguel de Cervantes and his illustrious character Don Quixote. Ensemble Romance has as main objective the dissemination of the musical works referenced in El Quijote (1st and 2nd part) and the most outstanding repertoire (instrumental and vocal) of the time incorporating contemporary compositions based on the novel Cervantes.
